Dentoy Revillar

Fedencio 'Dintoy' Gallardo Revillar

Fedencio Gallardo Revillar, affectionately referred to as 'Dintoy' by the older Filipinos as a boy, later evolved to 'Dentoy'.   Dentoy was born on November 16, 1934, and unexpectedly left us on December 27, 2022.  His void continues to resonate among those who knew him well, especially his family and friends. He is one of those rare souls

Dentoy never went by teacher, guru, master, or the like.  He was simply Dentoy, Den, Uncle, or Grandpa to those surrounding him.  He was from a family of 13 siblings, he had 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.  His family was the most important to him.

His whole life he preferred a simple and low-profile lifestyle.  Those select few who were special enough to be accepted by him, were blessed not only with his knowledge, but what it meant to experience his 'old school' and 'old style' personality.  Because when you met Dentoy, he was definitely a gentleman, and share his knowledge of his art with you openly.

Dentoy did not have a school and never sought the attentions by anyone.  He didn't care what others called themselves, or what they did to promote themselves.  He chose rather to teach a select few and keep the quality of Eskrima to the root of it's original essence.

Dentoy became a legend in the FMA world, without most people ever having a chance to meet him.  Those that did meet him, never forgot him, and he never forgot them.
